I don't know about a spectral analysis, but I'll wager Guy Legere, a scientist, has done more than one.
However, all that being said, I can hear a difference between the samples on the Legere web site. The samples were played by Richard Hawkins on the same equipment, same day, with just a reed change. I can't identify which is which relably from day to day, but I can hear a difference. I'd probably still hear a difference, though, if someone told me there were two different reeds - but the samples were really identical - especially if the samples were longer ...
Which is why experiments are more difficult to plan and execute than is commonly assumed ...
