I have large, thick fingers and I have had some of the keys tweeked as
far as posible and I still have problems. When I put my finger in the low C
tone port, my finger is touching both the C# and D# sharp keys. Gotta hit it
dead on and lightly. This one reason I enjoy the bass and contra more.
However one of our sax players has it even worse. He bought a Signet so as
to learn clarinet for doubling. His index finger is as thick as my thumb, so
he gave up and sold it. I thought I was a Neanderthal, but compared to him,
I'm Don Knotts.
