Before the first rehearsal of the Raschér Saxophone Orchestra Lörrach
this
morning, our conductor Bruce Weinberger announced that Sigurd Raschér
died
yesterday aged 93.

Others can write more elegantly and knowledgably about Sigurd Raschér's
many
achievements with the saxophone. For now I can only say that it is hard
for us.
Sigurd Raschér and his daughter Carina originally formed the Raschér
Saxophone
Quartet. Bruce Weinberger was also a founding member. The orchestra
developed
from the quartet.

We are dedicating the concert on Thursday to the memory of Sigurd
Raschér.

David
