It really all depends on what kind of playing you want to do - jazz or
traditional. The Meyer 5M and 6M are great mouthpieces...but only if
you're going to play jazz.

There are a good number of mouthpieces for both fields out there, and if
you plan on playing in both of them, you will most likely need two set up
(most players I know, including myself, do). For jazz, Meyer 5M and 6M
are extremely popular (I've used both, currently using a 6M), as are
Beechlers, Selmer metals, Selmer Teals (some people can only get a great
jazz sound out of a Teal), and Yanigasawa metals (VERY loud!). For
traditional playing, the C* is popular, as is the aforementioned Teal (and
many others only get a great traditional sound and can't conceive getting
a jazz sound out of it), the Rousseau NC4 plays wonderful (at around $70,
a good deal), and also the Caravan (which I play and love to death...only
$75.)

There are plenty of others out there than those I've listed...try them
all, find something that works for you!
