Very interesting. I expect this to be very useful
information (as is usual with your contributions, Daniel).

Because of the earlier discussions on this list of repeats and
improvisations, I have begun adding a few simple ornaments and frills on
repeats.

It is just plain fun, and helps the aliveness in the music.

Had a background music gig with trio this week. First I "filled" on the
bass line in Handel Air from Water Music.
Then "22 masterworks for woodwind trio" arr. OJ James with classical
minuets of Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, I started the practice, and we began
without discussion to alternate who got to add-on.
This was very enjoyable with *musical* players.

For the people who say they are not capable or talented this way, I
started small, adding a beat or two of "codetta" when practicing scales
and arpeggios.

Ann Satterfield
(who is focusing on things that worked because i got talked into joining
a choral performance of a piece of music that is way over the level of
the group--and i can't find all the entrances either.)
