I am an old worn-out systems analyst who is going to night school to become
a Reading Specialist in the public school system (it's just a switch from
troubleshooting synthetic logic systems to troubleshooting natural logic
systems.) I suppose this is my mid-life crisis, I need to do something more
worthwhile for the rest of my life...

Anyway, as you might imagine - Dyslexia is of sepcial interest to me.
Dyslexia is not so much a reading disability as a processing disability.
When it affects math and numbers, it is called "Dyscalcula." I've done a
lot of reading in this area and one of the most controversial (and to me the
most useful) writers on this topic is Ronald Davis (a dyslexic with a wild
and crazy way of treating the disorder - and it can be done at home by the
parents!) His book "The Gift of Dyslexia" explains this disorder in a way
that it has never been explained before. This is Ronald Davis life story as
well as an explanation for his technique. It is fascinating reading. If
you have dyslexic students or children, I recommend that you check out his
WebSite http://www.dyslexia.com/index.htm My local library had his book...
