Hi Michael,

Recently, just for fun, I bought a really old Albert system clarinet,
pitched in A and made by the Albert company (Brussels). It has plateaus on
the right hand keys but not the left hand. Middle-C and Bb are really soft
and stuffy as a result. Other notes are mostly OK.

Retro-fitting plateaus to all the open holes on a good clarinet would be
very expensive, and probably ruin the pitch and tone.

I am hopeful that someone on the List may have an answer to my questions.

1. Could plateau keys be fitted to all the open holes on a Bb Buffet RC
clarinet without impairing the acoustic qualities of the instrument?

2. Is such a Bb clarinet commercially available in the Buffet range, or
another brand line?

I've searched the archives without finding the answers to the above.

TIA.

Michael
