Bill -

My teacher called me on some sloppy fingering. I jokingly said that what he
heard was "a portamento" which violinists and singers find quite attractive.
For some reason, he didn't buy that.

I feel sheepish about nit-picking, but perhaps this is the correct
moment in the oft-repeated thread about gliss'ing to distinguish between
glissando and portamento, which as I understand it require different
techniques, and not all of the examples cited recently are true
glissandos?

Cheers,
Bill
