I just finished a performance of Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue. One of my
advanced (junior college) students wants to learn to do the glissando. One
thing that helped her was when I had her gliss from B to C (2 ledger lines
above the staff). Once she could do this, I had her do A to B, then A to B
to C. We worked down the instrument using mostly finger slides. Then I had
her work with the lip bending the pitches. She still has quite a ways to go
to learn the Rhapsody gliss, but at least she has a way to begin putting it
together. Maybe this will be somewhat helpful. Good luck.
