Klarinet Archive - Posting 000743.txt from 2001/02

This will be the last non-clarinet posting from me for a while.
For your trombonist friends and family members, the Rimsky-Korsakov
Concerto for Trombone and Wind Orchestra is ready for their downloading and
playing pleasure. It is a full orchestration with dynamics and
articulation markings included.
Of R-K's three concertos for solo instrument and wind orchestra (clarinet,
oboe and trombone) I would judge this to be the best as regards balance
between soloist and accompanying instruments. There are excellent
conversations back and forth and some lively melodies. It's a little heavy
on the cadenzas but I think the folks in our trombone section will think
they have died and gone to heaven. I'll see when I distribute the solo
parts to them tomorrow evening.
O.K. I promise I'll stick to clarinet from now on, but I became obsessed
about completing the set of three. Whew!

Happy playing all!
