the school owner wanted to know what books I would need, considering
that my students will be adult beginners as well as middle school kids.
My response (adult beginner, not a teacher) is:
Nilo Hovey "First Book of Practical Studies For Clarinet" is a bit
different from Rubanks and Klose (more friendly). It is also more
thorough and less 'grade-school-ish' than "Standard of Excellence." It
costs $6, which is easy on a parent's budget.
My teacher looked at the second book in this series just a day or
two ago, and she reaffirmed that I should stick with Klose for the more
advanced exercises.
Cheers,
Bill
