I thought you could only go 3 octaves on g, f, f#, and e

You may want to buy a fingering book such as "303 Clarinet
Fingerings & 276 Trills". It gives fingerings up to an octave _above_
the G that is 4 leger lines above the staff. Of course, this is
pretty extreme, but they exist. The book fits in your pocket and
costs in the neighborhood of $15.

A complete fingering book is useful for the alternate fingerings as
well as higher notes. Perhaps nobody who's serious about clarinet
should be without one. The title I mentioned above is available at
www.vcisinc.com among other places (the owner posts on this list), and I
really like the book's stuff-it-in-your-pocket convenience. The
diagrams in it are easy to read as well.

Cheers,
Bill
