Conventionally, three octaves are possible on all scales beginning on Low E
up to Low C (middle C) and going up three octaves from that point.

One of my favorite unaccompanied pieces, 5 Pieces for Solo Clarinet by
Michael Webster, ends the entire piece on a chromatic run up to double high
C - very cool. Or as my children have informed me, "tight."
