I just meant that the instrument was literally TOO GOOD for a beginner to
ruin, and too good for him to appreciate, either. A student-line Yamaha
would have been just as good, maybe better, for him to learn on while the
Selmer waited in the closet to see if he was was serious! That would also
provide him with a way to keep the classic horn OFF the marching band
field! You won't be any better a driver for taking your driving lessons in
a Rolls-Royce! A properly functioning Chevrolet will do just fine. And if
you have an accident the financial hit you take will be much less.
