This is true. I saw a case of it a couple of years ago, where a 6th grade
beginner was using his uncle's old saxophone, which turned out to be a
Selmer Super Balanced Action ca. 1948, in pretty nice shape. But I had to
take it into the shop a couple of times with major dents and bent keys
because he did not treat it properly. It did not help that he scratched
his initials into it, either! I tried the sax myself, and there is no way
the kid (or ANY kid, for that matter) deserved that horn!
