Which brings me to ask this question.
How many people make their own swabs??

I lost my very old Swab. Have no idea how. Went to a well
known music store, looked at $17.25 and $4.25 packaged swabs,
bought the $4.25 one, and regretted it when opened at home.
the cotton was small enough to clean out a tobacco pipe.
Got a refund.

Went to my collection of never used handkerchiefs, took out
the least bulky, and asked on bended knee for my wife to sew
a cord diagonally from one corner to the other and beyond
to 24 inches. attached a small weight. I have the best swab
I have ever used. nicer than those $17.25 VanDoren ones.

anyone else do this?
thanks!

Bill: Try a piece of soft black Egyptian cotton draped over your knee or
the chair. As a matter of fact, cut a piece 15cm to 18cm square from that,
sew a shoestring to it and you have a very discrete and easily-pulled swab,
as well.
