My main job is that of a band director and I too have also had recommended
mouthpieces. The one I like for my students is the Vandoren 5RV Lyre. It
seems to get a good sound with most students and does not sem to be so picky
as far as reeds are concerned. There are other people who like others, so be
prepared for other recommendations. The 5RV Lyre is my personal favorite.
