When it is time for your teenage offspring to learn to drive a car you do not
buy him/her a TransAm or Camaro or Indy race car, but you do want him to have a
car that works properly and is reliable. Same for mouthpieces. I used to
require (1965-1980) (Goldentone 3 with a 2 1/2 Rico reed) for my beginners 7th -
12 grade. At mid year they all went up to a #3 Rico. The stock beginner
mouthpieces have degraded so much that to require them is a guarrante for
failure. Get them a good one. A great looking car is worthless with a bad
engine.
