I take my clarinet apart before swabbing, so not to distribute water from=
the
top joint to the bottom joint, and also not to get the swab caught in the=
top
joint. I dry off the tops of the tenons in case of condensation between t=
he
joints. Then I dry the inside of the top of the bell, which usually has e=
xtra
condensation. I have to reassemble it for my double case, which requires =
the
parts together for storage.

I have gotten swabs stuck in the top joint before but am more likely to g=
et it
stuck if I have the joints together, because I cannot see in the joint as=
well
with it all attached.
