Subj: [kl] web reference?... musical terms
Date: Fri, 9 Feb 2001 07:16:41 -0500

ok, ok, I give up...
It looks like the only way I will follow all these conversations
about intonation, tonics (w/o gin), thirds, etc. is to actually
study up on the terminology.

so...could someone point me to a basic write-up on the web,
WITH PICTURES, that I can use to study and reference? I checked
sneezy.org, and the best writers use the terms, but as far
as I know, no one has left a basic Music Theory paper on it...

best wishes,
terry

Hi Rien,

Have gotten behind in the e-mails but this just caught my eye - maybe
because
it's from you?

Each note of the (major) scale has a name. The first is called Tonic, 2:
supertonic or submediant, 3: mediant, 4: subdominant, 5: dominant, 6:
superdominant 7: leading tone, subtonic or subsemitone. I've seen other
names
for some but this should get you where you want to go...

Enjoying the snow?

Best,
David
