With the tools I have, I can make nearly any configuration I want. For those
interested I bought barrel making tools from Ferre's catalog, including an
arbor to hold the bored-out wood on to shape into form, and several tenon
cutters of various sizes. One size, they very nicely custom made for me at no
additional charge.

For the inner bore, I use various drill bits, using either the lathe or a
drill press. I have had several reamers made in order to shape different bore
tapers. So far, I have spent at least $1000 for tools and supplies. Will I
ever make good on the investment? Who knows, but it's really a lot of fun.

Of course, with this equipment, I can also cut down existing barrels, which
is why Ferree's makes these tools available in the first place.
