Do you seal and adjust your reeds, or do you use them straight out
of the box? You may find that that preparing your reeds before you
play them seriously makes a big difference.

Several, but not all, of the brands are available in 4.5. According to
a catalog that I'm looking at right now, V-12 and Lurie and Bay and
Zonda and Olivieri and Vintage are available in 4.5.

Age alone is not a reason to abandon a clarinet. Is your clarinet
doing something that you don't like? Your instrument may be entering
the prime of its life.
