I do play it on basset horn - primarily because the range of the work
extends to a low C on the F Basset Horn. This would be the equivalent of
an F concert a little over an octave lower than the Bb counterpart. Also -
I just really enjoy the basset horn - punching out the lower octave is a
real hoot!

I've never heard the version for A clarinets - are you sure it was not Bbs
as most of the arrangements call for?
