Bill, are you sure that it was a pair of A clarinets?? I know that
there are several printings of Op. 113 in which one can play the piece
on any of several different pairs of instruments including clarinet and
bassoon, or clarinet and cello, or even clarinet and bass clarinet, but
in EVERY case, the clarinet is in B-flat.

How did you conclude that the performance you heard was for A clarinet?
