Of the six "Notturni", #1, 3, 5 and 6, are written for three basset-horns in
F. #2, 'Se lontan, ben mio tu sei', is written for two Bb clarinets and BH
in F and #4, 'Mi lagnerò tacendo', for two A-clarinets and Basset-horn in G.
'Se lontan' also includes the mysterious low Db, that Giles Thome is making
a big issue about in the film. A key for this note has not been found on any
original BH of the time and since the D above is extremely difficult to lip
down, the general opinion is that there must have been a few instruments
around with this key. Or?...
