Yeah... Single Stereo Pair, no spots. Try either ORTF with your Neumanns
or 414's (I wouldn't use the 460's). Back a bit from the crook of the
piano. With the player playing listen to where you think it will sound
good... That is probably pretty close to where the mics should go (usually,
I go about 4'-6' out). You also might try your 414's in spaced omni (use
the pattern switch). I put them about the height of the lid when it is
fully open (6-7' high?) spaced where one is in front of me and the other is
at the end of an outstretched arm (say 3' or so). Have the mics looking
just over the top of the lid. Move the 2 stands around until you get a
ballance of high end and low end. I find the left mic is usually around
where the lid and stick intersect, but it really depends on the instrument
and the hall.

Piano is a funky instrument to record sometimes....
