It's a Communion song - in Latin, "panis" is "bread", so the whole thing can
be translated as "bread of the angels" or "heavenly manna" or something
similar. The first line: "Panis angelicus fit panis hominum" means roughly
"the bread of the angels becomes bread for mankind". As I recall from sheet
music I've seen, the English translation given has little to do with the
Latin text.
