I give up! :-) [no, you're not a broken record, Dee]

enough people have spoken.
I shall not attempt to fix the poor little horn myself.

One clarification - there is not CURRENTLY a pad missing, there WAS a pad
missing, for which I argued with the repair technician to replace ONLY that pad
and not do the whole instrument at that time. It is playable...barely....and
that was both immediately after we bought a saxophone for my hubby and before i
agreed to play for the wedding.

So I shall see about having someone who knows what they are doing fix it for me
:)

Thanks much to everyone who has put in their two cents worth [so to speak]. I
really appreciate the number of people who have reassured me that my Boosey &
Hawkes is not so ready for the scrap heap as I was lead to believe.

The downside is that it will probably still take a month or so before I can
come up with the financing to take care of it properly, so for now, since I'm
mainly playing along with the hubby in his beginner book, I will just keep
struggling along. and skip the "b" :)

I'll let everyone know the outcome.

Ginger Calkins
