I just love "Le Quartour pour le Fin du Temps." My teacher first turned me
on to this piece when I was a sophomore. I bought a recording of it, and was
amazed by the colors and especially the lack of a time meter in one of the
movements! What was really great was that some of the St. Louis Symphony
members put on a chamber concert and that was the big thing that was played.
It was very special to me and I'll never forget that!

The same combination of instruments was used for a quartet by Peter
Schickele. My teacher played it on his recital this fall and it was amazing.
Have you heard of this one?

Glad you approve, Lacy. I have always enjoyed it and did it on my senior
performers recital (many moons ago). I have heard the quartet (it's great)
but have never played the entire quartet or even seen the music to the other

movements. Thanks for the endorsement.
