The RV stands for "Robert Vandoren," if I am not mistaken. The 2RV, which
is no longer available, and the 5RV which replaced it, definitely ARE
considered to be "good" mouthpieces, no doubt MUCH better than the one you
trashed.

Such matters have been a current topic of discussion. Mouthpieces are SO
personal, about all you can do is try as many as possible. Peoples'
personal recommendations, while not in any way binding, can at least direct
you where to look. If you are satisfied with what you have, though, there
is no hurry, no pressure.
