David,

You have to decide whether you want a BBb or an EEb contra. The Leblanc BBbs
are not as rare as the Selmer EEbs, but it is hard to find one down to a low
C. There are many out there that go down to a Low D.

The Selmer Rosewoos EEb Contra is a marvelous instrument. They only go to a
low Eb. Howver they play much more like a real bass clarinet than the BBbs
and don't require as much maintenance.

I bought my Leblanc Low C from Taylor Music in North Dakota. They are on the
net. I purchased my Selmer Rosewood Series 9 from Charles Fail Music.
1-800-965-2263.

Both instruments needed complete overhauls, The BBb was $3,000 the EEb was
$2,000 and I had to make one key. The BBb took in excess of 25 hours to
overhaul and I was moving fast because I had a performance coming up! I sent
the EEb contra body to Larry Naylor naylorscwr@-----.com to have it soaked in
oil prior to assembly. I believe the fee was around $200.

If you decide to buy a Leblanc, send me an e-mail before you attack it. I
have a few tips.

Clark
