now that we are being sentimental...

I dumped my Bundy without a sniffle. My parents helped me
spring for a 6 year old Selmer 9. It came with a Selmer B*,
and I had a HS*. It was light-years beyond that Bundy.
I played it for 3 years before dropping it for 30 years.
I was and remain sentimental about my Selmer.
A bad emotional choice for me was to get a used R13, very nice,
with lots of extra keys to play with, instead
of going for a complete overhaul on the Selmer. I wrestled for
weeks about keeping two pro level clarinets. I eventually
sold the Selmer 9 on E-bay, to a woman whose daughter was
getting too serious for what passes for beginner's clarinets.
I had a rough time, almost defaulted on the sale (not kidding),
but shipped it off. The daughter is pleased and has written
me about how great my "old" clarinet is.

So, I miss it, but it went to "a good home"...

No! I sold my first clarinet to add to my savings for my Buffets. Frankly, I
don't miss it very much. It was an Artley and I don't remember how much I
sold it for. I remember telling it, though, that I didn't stop loving it,
but it was just going to have a new owner. I did the same thing when I
bought my A. I told my Bb that it was getting a new friend, and that its old
friend is going to a good place (back to my taecher). AND, they talk to me,
saying, "Play me!" Strange, huh?

It certainly should. The Noblet 40 is the model I have been planning to
purchase when I can afford a brand new instrument (although I'll always have

a special attachment to my Vito and will never, ever sell it. Does
everybody
feel this way about their very first clarinet?).
