Imitation is an important step in the learning process when learning
anything. Once a student imitates and copies the student can begin the
process of assimilating and recreating. No one can sound exactly like
another person for long. Yes, one can learn and copy but eventually the
individual takes over and even when wanting to copy something personal and
individual could come out.

If I had the technique just to be able to copy my teacher I'd be thrilled.
I'm not worried that I'd sound like him forever, the imitation stage is
something one outgrows.
