I am looking for a new mouthpiece, and am not sure where to start.

The single most important advice is: Try a bunch of them and
decide which one you like the best. Don't try only one brand.

If your local store has only one or two brands, take some on trial
from a mail order house.

Asking other people's opinions and reading catalog data is fine,
but never buy on the strength of a catalog or someone's recommendation
alone. Try several yourself. Every person's facial structure and
mouth and lungs and tongue and throat are different. Every mouthpiece
is unique as well (even two mouthpieces of the same model from the same
manufacturer --- I didn't believe this until my teacher mandated that I
try three mouthpieces of the same manufacturer -- it's true).

So either try them first, or be prepared to buy a bunch of them and
to leave some of them sitting forever unused on your shelf.

And decide with your gut, not with your intellect (IMO).

Cheers,
Bill
