With an eye towards writing accompaniments, would someone be
willing to comment on what (if anything) is going on in the following
phrase (key is C major):

G - F# - G - Fnatural - E

and the next phrase, which follows the first phrase immediately:

G - A - C - D -E - D - A - G - C - E - D
