Klarinet Archive - Posting 000632.txt from 2001/01
From: Bilwright@-----.net (William Wright) Subj: [kl] How to klezmer (continued) Date: Fri, 19 Jan 2001 01:15:02 -0500
Someone suggested that I listen to Dave Tarras in order that I can
have a more complete conversation about technique. I'm embarrassed
that I don't remember who made the suggestion.
I have obtained a copy of "Dave Tarras, Master of Klezmer Music,
Volume 1". One thing that Tarras does on almost every track is a
gentle (emphasis on gentle) 'yip' at the beginning or ending of a rising
or falling phrase.
Is this done by moving the jaw or by breath or some other way?
Thank you,
Bill
