You are not entirely correct. There are at least two Italian music
dictionaries, one from 1760 and one from 1778 that spell the word as
"Partitta," though most spell it "Partita" as you say. But none of this
matters. The only reason for the use of this subtitle is because of the
presence of the text on the manuscript and what it says is exactly as I
have described it.

I personally requested Barenreiter to stop using that title and they
said that this is the title by which the work is best known. OK, that's
their business not mine. Mine was simply to state the title as it
appears on the autograph, right or wrong, correct spelling or not.
