There is a Burl Ives paperback called "The Burl Ives Song Book".
It has 115 folk songs from around the world with piano arrangements and
guitar chords, plus a bit of history about each song. This book has an
entire chapter about the sea:
The Maid of Amsterdam
High Barbaree
The Pirate Song
The Constitution and the Guerriere
and so forth, including more well-known tunes such as Blow The Man Down,
Away Rio, and What Shall We Do With A Drunken Sailor.
The arrangements are copyrighted of course, but the basic folk tunes are
all there.
I hope that I'm not sending you on a wild goose chase for an
out-of-print book. Ballantine Books, 1953.
Cheers,
Bill
