Last week I was walking with my girlfriend in Arezzo for the monthly
antiques-market (600 dealers!! one of the greatest in Italy).
I've found an interesting clarinet on a stall which has attracted my
attention.
The clarinet is marked "Dall.Beavon - London" and it is in excellent
condition. It is an Albert system Bb clarinet in rosewood with 12 silver
keys and a wooden mouthpiece (rosewood?).
The instruments has no cracks and needs little work to became playable (some
pad, some cork, some spring).
Since my girlfriend's father is a good client of that dealer, he has
proposed me an interesting price.
I've "stopped" the clarinet and I just have to phone him to buy the
instrument but I need to know what I'm buying and if the price is
reasonable.
Then I've an ethical problem.
The clarinet seems original in every parts (the reeds too!!!!) but I need to
substitute some minor piece (pads, corks and springs).
Does the clarinet loose value with this substitution?
Thanks to anyone.
