There is no difference except LOOKS!!! There is NO difference in weight.
As far as durability, the silver plating will wear, and how fast is
dependent on the acidity of each player's hands.

I had (they were stolen if you have read previous posts) a set of Prestige
RC bore clarinets, and silver plating is standard. After 15 years, there
was no need to replate the keys, but the acid in my hads was beginning to
afect the lower three rings and rod of my Bb. In a few more years, that
part of the mechanism would need to be replaced.

Is there any major significant difference between nickel and silver plating
on a buffet r-13 besides looks and weight? I know that the nickel doesn't
last quite as long or look quite as shiny, but are there any advantages to
them. I'm sure if silver was totally superior to nickel Buffet would
probably not sell nickel anymore. Thanks!
