I wish I could re-post the Howarth technician's email, but this
wouldn't be proper of course.
However, one of the things he mentioned specifically is that
cyanoacrylate (super-glue) fails sometimes because it is too brittle to
be a good void-filler.

Also, he mentioned that the ring (on Howarth clarinets) is brass
underneath the plating, not steel.
