I think I'd start looking for an explanation of why the rings have become so
loose. I don't think you'll do any harm wrapping the paper around more than
once or using thicker paper (or other suitable material - a couple have been
mentioned inthis thread). But check your room humidity where you keep the
instrument. I'd make very certain to put Dampits or orange peels in the case
to try to re-humidify the wood. When my rings occasionally loosen I find a
day or two of orange peels (with the case closed, of course, when I'm not
actually playing on the instruments) solves the problem. In fact, although I
first mentioned the paper shimming technique in this thread, I'd always try
to humidify the instruments before I'd do anything to the instrument at all.
