I think the most common problem for a clarinetist to play BC for the first
time is "bitting" on the reed. Don't let the high notes frighten you either.
You probably should use a bit more mouthpiece than you think. I had a
teacher tell me that your lower lip should go about where the reed first
contacts the mouthpiece. Hopefully the BC you will play has a "peg". Another
thing I was recently taught was to have the bell a bit closer in and the
inst. at an angle. If you plan to stick with the bass, find you a teacher
that understands the many subtle differences between BC and Bb. Until then
you will do just fine with what you know.

Hi. For the school play, i think i might have to play the bass clarinte, but
i've never touched one. I don't know diddlysquat about playing it. Are the
fingerings different? Are the reed different? HELP!!!
