I had a ring on the barrel of my first Buffet tightened by a local repair
tech. (we're talking '60's here). Come summer, by barrel was sticking and
binding on the upper joint top tenon. I took it to Moennig, who 1.)
expanded the ring to its proper size, and 2.) showed me the paper shim
trick with the Philly phone book. I've continued to mutalate phone books
since that day, without any problems of cracks caused by uneven shims.
