The Concerto for Clarinet and Orchestra in Bb Major, Opus 11, by Bernhard
Crusell is ready for downloading and your playing pleasure at
http://webchem.csudh.edu/musicfiles/clarmusi.htm.

I find it to be an exquisite work. I sequenced the solo clarinet part for
each movement first, followed by the flute and bassoon parts -- enough to
begin to be able to play along while working on the rest of the
instruments. As each movement slowly came together, my enjoyment turned to
ecstasy. Each movement is loads of fun, but certainly not for the faint
hearted. A Krommer partita it ain't!

The Finale .MUS files are for the full orchestra accompaniment with
articulation and dynamics markings included. I did it as something of a
follow-up exercise after the Rimsky-Korsakov concerto came off so easily.
This concerto has most of the instruments doing their own thing most of the
time; the task ended up being perhaps 50% more time consuming than a
notes-only Krommer partita, so I take back my earlier extravagant claim
that fully orchestrated concertos with all markings would turn out to be
less time consuming.

It is with some embarrassment to have to admit that I'm not able to play
the first movement faster than q=80, the second q=60 and the Alla polacca
at around q@-----. I just listened to the Alla
polacca which I set at a default tempo of q=100 in the MIDI file and it
seems to be a little frantic for some of the passages toward the end. I'd
be interested in your opinions on the matter.

Happy playing all,

Oliver
