Subj: [kl] STOLEN CLARINETS
Date: Sat, 6 Jan 2001 02:15:35 -0500

This is an update to my original post, which had to be inserted into an
unrelated message. At approximately 10:55 P.M., I met with the Pasadena
Police. In the process of inspecting the vehicle, and trying to get
fingerprints, they discovered that the key locks to my Ford Escort were
removed.
It appears that this was a professional hit. I doubt that the clarinet set
was the target, but the case is similar to a portable computer case.

This goes to show that even in the quietest of neighborhoods, nothing is
safe

To the List:

I regret to inform the list that I had a set of Buffet Prestige RC clarinets
stolen out of my vehicle on Friday night, 5 January between
6:30 and 8:00 P.M. Pacific time. Unfortunately, I do not have the serial
numbers at my disposal at this time, but the following are the
identifying characteristics:

The instruments were in a soft-side Adiamo Brief Bag, and each instrument
was in a separate cordavan insert from the old LeBlanc soft
Side case. In the Bb bag, there was an aluminum ribbed barrel, in addition
to the regular barrel. In the A bag, there was a 64mm A barrel
That was marked RC. Both instruments had Damp-Its in the joints and
barrels. The side pockets included a tuner, and a small bag that
Contained a reed knives, screwdriver, cork grease, etc. Between the
clarinet bags was a folder of studies and other music, including the
Stravinsky Three Pieces. In the back pocket of the Adiamo bag, there is a
copy of the September/October 2000 Symphony magazine.

For Southern California clarinetists in the greater Los Angeles area, if you
notice clarinets in such a case at a pawn shop, please advise me.
I can be contacted at (626) 796-3425. Any help is appreciated. I hope to
locate the serial numbers soon, and will post them when available.
