One human plays jazz trumpet, and a Mac computer program listens to
the trumpet and generates several parts of 'improvised' jazz
accompaniment. The trumpeter will bring his hardware to your party:

The audio samples at this web site are streamed MP3 (I think?), and
WebTV can't keep pace. Thus I hear one-second snatches of music,
interrupted by one or two seconds of silence -- not the ideal listening
conditions. Overall, the music sounds unimaginative to me, but it
isn't offensive. I've listened to only one of the five or six samples.
For a more encompassing look at what's going on, see the January 2001
issue of Discover Magazine.
Cheers,
Bill
