I've restored a few Schreiber clarinets, including the plastic (formerly hard
rubber) student models (which for many years
Buffet stencilled and sold as the bottom-of -the-line Evette-Schaeffers such as
the E11), as well as two wood ones. I found all of them to be mediocre
instruments, not bad, but completely lacking in character and tone color, with a
rather clunky feel to the mechanism. Not my cup of tea at all. IMHO the
Shreibers are intermediate instruments at best.
