Klarinet Archive - Posting 000151.txt from 2001/01

I sit second chair to a pretty horrible player in one community band.
However, she is the band secretary and treasurer. That is worth all the
solos that I don't play. I am new to another community band, and I was
handed a folder of 3rd parts. So be it. I think that seniority does count.
I view the community bands as a fun performance outlet. Friends and family
come to watch, and audience members who would not usually watch a concert
are hearing music. These bands are not a place to exercise musical egos.
