The Community College in my area in the last 10-12 years has a very hard
time having enough clarinets and flutes for the student band (but
consistent with instrumentation numbers of trumpets and saxes.)
The small colleges in the area have similar difficulties.
The 3 community bands in the county, maybe one has balance in strength
and numbers, other two are hurting for both size and quality.
Yet the high school bands have clarinets... and this a *band* area.
